摘　　要：建筑是石头砌成的史诗,从原始的穴居,到后续的砌筑,再到工业生产下石料的开发,由于石材坚固耐用的特点,建筑在建造过程中对石材的应用始终伴随其历史的发展并持续演进。文章以达拉斯西多会修道院为例,对现代建筑对石材构建的全新演绎进行介绍。作为北美的两个西多会修道院之一,达拉斯西多会修道院在传统材料对建筑场所精神的表达方面值得学习与借鉴。It is often said that architecture is an epic poem made of stone.From the original cave dwelling to the subsequent masonry,and then to the development of stone under industrial production,due to the strong and durable characteristics of stone,the application of stone in the construction process has always accompanied with the historical development and its continuous evolution.This paper presents a new interpretation on stone construction in modern architecture by taking the Cistercian Monaster in Dallas as an example.As one of the only two Cistercian monasteries in North America,the building is worthy of study and reference in terms of the expression of traditional materials to the spirit of the building place.
