摘　　要：王元增生活、学习和工作的年代,中国正处于晚清新政改良监狱、民国接续监狱改良的时期,正是中国监狱学孕育诞生和初期雏形的时段,也是中国监狱现代转型肇始和接续的时段。王元增留学日本学习监狱学,回国后从事监狱事务工作,官至典狱长,直至监狱司司长,且从事监狱学理论研究和教学工作,为监狱理论与监狱实务做出了突出贡献。In the period when Wang Yuanzeng lived,studied and worked,China was in the period of the improvement of the New Deal in the late Qing Dynasty and the improvement of the Republic of China.It was the period of the birth and the initial formof Chinese penology,and also the period of the beginning and continuation of the modern transformation of prisons in China.Wang Yuanzeng studied in Japan to study penology.After returning to China,he worked in prison affairs,from the warden to the director of the prison department.Moreover,he was engaged in the theoretical research and teaching of prison education,and had made outstanding contributions to prison theory and prison practice.
