英语复杂双宾语结构的广义左向-偷渡分析

摘　　要：英语双宾语结构历来是理论语言学研究的一个热点,其句法推导研究主要以简单句式为主,针对复杂句式的研究并不多见,且仅停留在附加语位于句末的特殊情况,并未对其他合并位置做出统一分析。本文基于施用结构分析框架,结合偷渡分析法和广义左向合并原则,提出广义左向-偷渡方案(a generalized-left and smuggling approach),尝试给出英语复杂双宾语结构(双宾语结构和附加语并存时)的推导过程。研究发现,英语复杂双宾结构属于高阶施用结构,附加语在完成相关推导后,依据其与修饰对象之间的关系,左向嫁接于不同的句法位置,即VP、vP、TP的指示语位置。具体来讲,目标论元(goal)借助VP的偷渡(smuggling)成功移位并跨越句末附加语,最终生成正确的语序。由此,广义左向-偷渡方案既避免了句法成分移位所引发的局域性限制(Locality Restrictions),又进一步拓宽了广义推导理论的研究范围,为汉语相关句式的研究提供借鉴。English double object construction has always been the topic of much discussion in theoreti⁃cal linguistics.The current syntactic derivation studies,however,mainly focus on simple sen⁃tence patterns,and pay less attention to complex sentence patterns with sentence⁃final adjuncts,failing to provide a unified interpretation of these structures.Under the framework of applicative construction,this paper proposes a generalized⁃left and smuggling approach based on the smug⁃gling approach and Principle of Generalized Leftward Merger,and addresses the generation mechanism of complex double object construction in English.It is argued that English complex double object construction belongs to H⁃ApplP structure,while its adjuncts are leftward adjoined to different syntactic positions according to the relationship with the modified objects,that is,[Spec,VP][Spec,vP]and[Spec,TP].Significantly,goal is smuggled over sen⁃tence⁃final adjuncts by the movement of VP,and finally generates the correct sentence word or⁃der.Accordingly,the generalized⁃left and smuggling approach not only avoids the Locality Re⁃strictions caused by the movement of syntactic components,but also further enriches the analyti⁃cal scope of generalized derivation theory,which will finally shed some light on the study of cor⁃responding Chinese sentences.
