Charles H. Red Corn is an American Indian writer from the Osage Tribe. His work A Pipe for February, tells a detective story about the “accidents” of several members of the Osage tribe caused by their white agency(of Osage Affairs). This paper aims to analyze the characters' helping one another based on Ferdinand T9nnies' Community Theory, from three perspectives: community by blood, community of place, and community of spirit in Charles H. Red Corn's writing A Pipe for February, proving that most of the people from Osage, however old or young, and no matter how far they live from one another, they are in a community, and it is the community that heals the protagonist from all of the harm done by the whites. First, John's grandfather and Molly help John get out of danger in different ways, repairing his mind from different angles, as they are both in the same blood community as John, which is one of the most basic elements with which John can be comforted and healed. Secondly, it can be seen from the novel that Mi-keh-wa-ti-an-kah represents the people who belong to the regional community with John, and his support and comfort for John displays the cohesive function of the regional community to heal the protagonist. Finally, in the spiritual community, neither Barbara nor Tom is related to John or shares common land, but they are still doing their best to protect John, willing to share sorrow and happiness with him, putting John's interests first when considering problems and facing danger, and are the ones who save him.
