Traumatic brain injury(TBI)is usually regarded as an acute injury. However, the impact of TBI on patients persists for a long time and may increase the incidence of neurological and non-neurological diseases that need extended treatment, nursing and rehabilitation, indicating that TBI can also be seen as a chronic progression. How to optimize the whole course management of TBI patients poses a clinical challenge. For this purpose, the author discussed the new advancements in related diseases and countermeasures in the chronic progression after TBI,aiming to enhance the understanding and awareness of the long-term course after TBI and provide a reference for its management and research.
