“四新”建设背景下非英语专业研究生学术英语教学改革实践——以华中农业大学为例

摘  要:“四新”建设是新时代世界高等教育创新发展的中国方案,公共英语是非英语专业研究生的公共必修课程,在发展研究生综合英语语言能力、促进研究生专业成长和全面发展方面具有基础性作用。新时期公共英语教学应以高质量服务“四新”背景下的研究生教育为宗旨,以培养研究生的学术英语能力为主导,当前研究生公共英语教学不符合“四新”建设要求,可以用建构主义理论指导研究生公共英语教学改革,提出了系列改革举措,取得了改革成效。The“Four New”initiatives,encompassing the Emerging Engineering Education,the Emerging Agricultural Education,New College of Medicine,and New Liberal Arts,exemplify China s forward-thinking strategy for the advancement of higher education in the contemporary era.English language courses are a compulsory component of the curriculum for non-English major postgraduate students,fulfilling a pivotal role in the development of their English language proficiency,as well as their professional and comprehensive growth.The paper posits that the English curriculum for postgraduate students should focus on nurturing proficiency in academic English,thereby providing robust support for graduate education within the framework of the“Four New”initiatives.The paper conducts an analysis of the misalignment between the existing English curriculum for postgraduate students and the demands of the“Four New”initiatives.It proposes that the reform of the English curriculum for postgraduate students be guided by Constructivism Theory.Finally,it delineates a series of reformative strategies,and evaluates their potential efficacy in addressing the identified discrepancies.
