摘　　要：城市史研究中的“城市类型”是一个历史命题,特定城市的主要功能会在较长时间内保持恒定,但在特殊情况下也会出现变化。昆明作为西南地区连通中原最主要的典型边疆城市,在清末的边疆危机中发展迅速。近代昆明经历了自主开埠、护国起义、支援抗战等重要历史事件,逐步由一处传统的边疆省份行政中心发展为一个综合性城市。在这个过程中,昆明的主要城市功能发生了多次转变。The “city type” in the study of Urban history is a historical proposition.Although the main functions of a specific city will remain stable over a long run,unpredictable situations may occur.Kunming,a typical main border city connecting the central plains in southwest China,developed rapidly during the border crisis of the late Qing Dynasty.In pre-modern times,Kunming went through important historical events such as Independent Port Opening,National Protection Uprising,the Anti Japanese War,and grew up from a traditional frontier provincial centre to a city complex.During the conversion,the major urban functions of Kunming underwent multiple transformations.The article incorporates the urban functions of Kunming into the research scope of modern southwestern border history,and re-examines the evolution of modern Kunming's urban functions.
