The purpose of this paper is to study the therapeutic effect of massage therapy on delayed onset muscle pain(DOMS)in vocational and undergraduate athletes after high-intensity exercise training.16 male and female athletes were selected, aged 18-20 years old, from higher vocational colleges and undergraduate colleges. They were randomly divided into two groups and performed a high-intensity strength training. One group received 30 minutes of massage therapy, and the other group did not receive massage therapy. The delayed onset muscle pain(DOMS)conditions of the two groups at 24 hours,48 hours and 72 hours after training were then compared, and relevant data analysis was conducted. The experimental results showed that the DOMS in the group that received massage therapy was reduced 24 hours,48 hours and 72 hours after training compared with the group that did not receive massage therapy. At the same time, the group that received massage therapy recovered muscle strength faster 24 hours and 48 hours after training. This study shows that massage therapy can effectively reduce DOMS symptoms in athletes after high-intensity exercise training, and at the same time promote the recovery of muscle strength.
