Based on the theory of"Taking Qi from Wei",the acupuncture thought and method of treating postpartum obesity with spleen-kidney Yang deficiency were discussed. It is considered that the main pathogenesis of postpartum obesity with spleen-kidney Yang deficiency is deficiency of qi,blood, and zang-fu organs and decrease of the function of spleen and kidney, leading to dampness and phlegm, stagnation of channels and collaterals, insufficiency of Wei Qi,and maladjustment of movement. As time goes on,abdominal and limb obesity and other symptoms appear. Therefore,"regulating Wei to improve deficiency"is the key to treating postpartum obesity with spleen-kidney Yang deficiency.By selecting the points of the hand-foot three-Yang meridian and applying acupuncture according to the direction of Wei Qi transmission and injection, the movement of Wei Qi was promoted so that it did not stagnate. The layered acupuncture method was applied to guide Wei Yang into the body,so as to enrich the Yuan Qi of zang-fu organs. The Qi machine was fluent, and the essence was full, thus dispelling dampness, reducing turbidity, and eliminating fat.
