Boundary work has long served as the primary theoretical framework for examining how journalists uphold their professional status and legitimacy through specific discourse strategies. However, with the integration of generative artificial intelligence into journalism, exemplified by entities like ChatGPT and Sora, the concepts of"expansion,""expulsion,"and"protection of autonomy"within the boundary work theory have become increasingly constrained in their explanatory capacity.Drawing inspiration from Bourdieu's"field"theory,Professor Gil Eyal of Columbia University has proposed the"boundary zone"theory, rooted in a relational perspective, through a series of empirical investigations. The concept of the journalistic boundary zone offers a space of opportunity for actors from other social fields adjacent to journalism. Both technological and journalistic professional actors can equally engage in practices to construct a new social field.Consequently, the boundary zone between the"journalism field"and the"technology field"is poised to become the primary network for journalistic practice in the future.
