摘　　要：《中国地方志总目提要》是《中国地方志联合目录》出版后编纂的大型提要性方志目录。西藏地方志是中国地方志的重要组成部分。受多方面因素影响,这一提要性工具书清代西藏方志的著录及条目内容存在一些不足与缺陷:一是将部分非方志著作纳入著录,所著录的康熙、雍正时期的西藏方志多为行记;二是著录存在遗漏,在清代西藏方志发展中有着重要地位及影响的几部志书未见著录;三是部分条目的内容有误或不准确、不完整,有的条目未言及志书编纂特点及志中具有资料价值的记载。存在的不足与缺陷影响清代西藏方志的收集整理及资料的挖掘利用,也在一定程度上影响中国方志史及西藏方志发展史的研究。本文旨在与西藏方志研究者交流,同时也为“总目提要”今后的增订提出建议。The Chinese Local Histories:A Comprehensive Annotated Catalog(Zhongguo Difangzhi Zongmu Tiyao,hereafter known as the Annotated Catalog),with Jin Enhui and Hu Shuzhao as its chief editors,is a large-scale catalog of local chronicles.Each chronicle in the Annotated Catalog is composed of“titles”and“explanations”.However,this synoptic reference book does contain some shortcomings and noteworthy questions for a variety of reasons.This paper primarily focuses on three such problems related to the catalog and contents of local chronicles of Xizang during the time of the Qing Dynasty.First of all,the Annotated Catalog includes some ancient books that do not belong to the type of local chronicles.In the section on local chronicles of Xizang,some selected books actually do not meet the general requirements of a“local record”.They are therefore either only relevant to Xizang in a few aspects,or they are primarily accounts of the authors observations even though the content is mainly about Xizang.As a result,these books lack the features and elements of local chronicles and should be classified as travel notes.As such,it is not proper to include them in the section of local chronicles of Xizang.In the second place,there are some omissions in the Annotated Catalog.Some essential local chronicles,such as the Pandect of the Western Regions(Xiyu Quanshu),The Research of Xizang Local Records(Xizang Zhikao),and the“Xizang”volume of Yunan General Annals(Yunnan Tongzhi)compiled in the Daoguang reign,are not included in the section of local records of Xizang during the Qing period.However,these local histories had profound impacts on the compilation and development of subsequent local chronicles of Xizang during the Qing Dynasty,and provided affluent,reliable,and precious historical materials for later generations to study and research the historical evolution of the Xizang region in the Qing Dynasty.Therefore,they should be incorporated in the section on local chronicles of Xizang in the Annotated Catalog.Finally,so
