Naipaul’s representative work,A Bend in the River depicts the military crisis and economic crisis faced by the emerging African countries after the national liberation movement, portrays the scars of local history and the difficulties faced in the modernization process, and reveals the essence of colonialism and imperialism.Examining the novel from the perspective of Postcolonial Ecocriticism,it is easy to see the tragic harm inflicted on Third World countries by Western hegemony under the cover of economic globalization.Naipaul strongly criticizes the destruction of the natural ecology, the disruption of the social ecology and the collapse of the spiritual ecology caused by Colonialism and Neocolonialism. The writer tries to break the dichotomy between man and nature and build an ecological balance of the Trinity.
