摘　　要：彼得斯在《奇云》一书中提出了一种“元素型媒介哲学”,这拓展了学界对媒介的理解,即将媒介视为“元素”,而每一种元素型媒介都作为基础设施隐藏在可见性媒介的后台。凭借此书,我们可以从元素型媒介的视角理解媒介及其技术延伸。中西文明也在元素型媒介观的差异中,表现出传播思想史的差异。换言之,从对元素型媒介差异的理解中,中西文明可以交流互鉴。在对水与火两种元素型媒介的理解中,西方文明强调火型元素媒介代表的是对自然的征服技术,而中华文明则更强调水型元素媒介代表的是人与自然和谐相处的生态技术。工业革命以来,“声光化电”等火型元素媒介大行其道,中国在现代化进程中也受到其影响,但是随着21世纪生态文明的兴起,传统中国水型媒介观显现出新的时代价值。Peters puts forward an“element-based media philosophy”in his book The Marvelous Clouds,which expanded the understanding of media in the academic world.In other words,media is regarded as“element”,and every element-based media is hidden in the background of visible media as infrastructure.With this book,we can understand media and its technological extension from the perspective of elemental media.Chinese and Western civilizations also show the differences in the history of communication thoughts and the elemental media views.In another words,by understanding the differences between elemental media,Chinese and Western civilizations can take a dialog and learned from each other.In the understanding of water and fire elemental media,Western civilization emphasizes the conquest of nature represented by fire media,while Chinese civilization emphasizes the ecological technology of harmonious coexistence between human and nature represented by water media.Since the Industrial Revolution,fire-type media such as“sound,light,chemical and electricity”have been utilized,and China has also been affected by them in the process of modernization.However,with the rise of ecological civilization in the 21st century,the traditional Chinese water-type media concept has shown a new value of the times.
