The study took temperate steppe as the research object, and compared the improvement effect of vegetation characteristics and soil physicochemical properties of natural grassland through the implementation of four restoration measures, such as no-tillage replenishment, water replenishment by sprinkler irrigation+no-tillage replenishment,water-retaining agent+no-tillage replenishment, and aerial seeding,so as to provide a reference for the protection and restoration of degraded grassland. The results showed as follows:Compared with the outside of the project area, the number of plant species in no-tillage replenishment, water replenishment by sprinkler irrigation+no-tillage replenishment,water-retaining agent+no-tillage replenishment, and aerial seeding areas increased, the average height of vegetation increased by 2~5 cm,and the vegetation coverage,above-ground biomass, and soil water content were significantly increased by swater-retaining agent+no-tillage replenishment(P<0.05).The results showed that water-retaining agent+no-tillage replenishment had the best effect on the restoration of above-ground vegetation characteristics and soil water holding capacity, followed by water-retaining agent+no-tillage replenishment.Water is still the main factor limiting the ecological restoration effect of degraded steppe.
