The mobility of capital reflects the distribution of elements in the national spatial structure. As a basic condition for the operation of the capitalist market economy,it serves to safeguard the interests of capitalists while harming the interests of socially disadvantaged groups. In Octavia E.Butler's Parable of the Sower, disadvantaged African Americans become the victims of capital mobility. The mobility of capital in different spaces visualizes the unequal distribution of rights. As a spatial representation,Robledo represents the city as conceived by the ruling class.Being a political tool for the bourgeoisie to strengthen its rule, capital keeps accumulating in the hands of the upper class. The city of Olivar belongs to the representational space, which represents real-life experience:capital moves from workers to capitalists.Instead of realizing the vested interests of workers, capital mobility confines workers to the bottom of society so that they become new"debt slaves."Therefore,Butler imagines the"acorn community"as a space of difference to criticize the neoliberal system in the late capitalist period.
