摘 要:族裔作家的作品主题,往往被归结为主流文化与族裔文化之间压制与颠覆的二元对立关系,忽略了作者的性格、身份等变量的参与所造成的主题的多样性与特异性。同一族群成员也会基于自身的性格策略与生存空间建构差异性的文化身份。作为中国香港出生、中英混血的族裔作家,毛翔青在《酸甜》中再现了1960年代华人移民海外打拼的百态人生。脱离母体文化、进入移民社会后,《酸甜》中陈氏一家分别选择了对立、逃避与戏仿的身份路径。毛翔青借助三位英国华人差异的身份解构了本质主义的族裔性,传递了对族裔移民的人文关怀,并为自己解决跨文化冲突找寻了一条路径。While the themes of ethnic writers'works are often summarized as part of a relationship of binary opposition as a result of suppression and subversion between mainstream cultural and ethnic cultures,the multiplicity and specificity of the themes as a result of the participation of such variants as the writers'character and identity are often neglected.Members of even the same ethnic group may construct differential cultural identity because of their own character strategy and living space.As an ethnic writer,born in Hong Kong,China,and of Chinese-English mixed blood,Timothy Mo,in his Sour Sweet,represents various kinds of life involving Chinese migrants struggling for survival in the 196Os.After they become detached from their mother culture and enter into a migrant society,the Chens in Sour Sweet have chosen the identity path of opposition,escape and parody.By way of the differential identity of the three Chinese English persons,Timothy Mo deconstructs the ethnicity of essentialism,conveying his humanist concern for the ethnic migrants and finding a way for himself of resolving transcultural conflicts.
