摘　　要：英国当代作家戈尔丁的名作自《教堂尖塔》出版之日起引发热议。作为宗教题材小说,作家通过探讨乔斯林的个人意志,批判现代人的宗教偏激思想。如果把作品放在叔本华哲学视域下,可以看出乔斯林的个人意志不仅存在视角有限问题,也与科学和理性发生冲突。因此,通过叔本华哲学评判,能够揭示乔斯林个人意志的弊端,警醒世人凡事不可一意孤行,需要做出理性和科学研判。The Spire written by William Golding,a British contemporary writer,has aroused heated debates since its publication.As a religious novel,the writer criticizes the religious extremes of modern people by exploring Jocelin's personal will.If the novel is read in the context of Schopenhauer's philosophy,it can be seen that Jocelin's personal will not only has the problem of limited vision,but also causes conflicts with science and reason.Based on Schopenhauer's philosophy,this paper intends to reveal the drawbacks of Jocelin's personal will,reminding us that one should act rationally rather than willfully.
