摘　　要：《摸彩》是美国现代小说家雪莉·杰克逊的代表作。该小说问世之后因在主题和情节上强烈的反常理倾向而饱受争议。小说文本用了颇多笔墨提到了“笑”,这些笑往往被赋予除了单纯面部表情外的意义,也是小说悲剧性的折射。本文试图以特里·伊格尔顿的幽默不协调论、幽默释放论和幽默优越论分析小说中“笑”的三层潜在含义:不协调感的回应、精神压力的释放和优越感的反击,并由此窥见雪莉·杰克逊独特的写作特点。The Lottery is a famous masterpiece by modern American novelist Shirley Jackson.Since its release,the novel has been controversial because of its strong anti-conventional tendencies in theme and plot.The text of the novel uses a lot of references to“laughter”,which is often given meanings other than mere facial expressions,and is also a reflection of the tragedy of the novel.This paper attempts to analyze three potential meanings of“laughter”in the novel in terms of Terry Eagleton’s theories of humorous incongruity,humorous relief and humorous superiority:the response of incongruity,the relief of mental pressure and the counterattack of superiority,and concludes that the distinctive characteristics of Shirley Jackson’s writing.
