摘　　要：在国际学术界享有盛誉的比较教育学家和汉学家、加拿大学者RuthHayhoe(中文名许美德),四十余年来把学术生涯的大部分精力都倾注在对中国高等教育的历史、现状、特性与成败得失的深入持久研究中。许美德学术思想的形成和发展,深受马克斯·韦伯的“理想类型”和“中国文化观”、哈贝马斯的“交往行为理论”、布赖恩·霍姆斯的“问题法”和“社会变迁理论”以及以挪威学者约翰·高尔通为代表的“世界秩序模式计划”的影响。与此同时,又在不同角度上实现了认识超越,从而在东西方高等教育交流和文明对话中,架设了沟通的桥梁,打开了增进了解的窗口。Professor Ruth Hayhoe,a well-known Canadian specialist in comparative education and a sinologist,has devoted most of her academic career to the in-depth and sustained research on the history,current situation,characteristics,successes and failures of China's higher education for more than 40 years.Ruth Hayhoe's academic thought was deeply influenced by Max Weber's"ideal type"and"Chinese cultural view",Habermas's"communicative behavior theory",Brian Holmes's"problem approach"and"social change theory",and the"world order model project"represented by Norway scholar Johann Galton.At the same time,she has achieved her cognitive transcendence of these theories from different angles,thereby building a bridge of communication and opening a window to promote understandings in the exchange of higher education between the East and the West and the dialogue between civilizations.
