Children's health is related to the high-quality development of population in China.Based on the 2010-2020 Chinese Household Tracking Survey, using the implementation of the 1999 university expansion,a quasi-natural experiment was conducted to identify the causal relationship between paternal higher education attainment and children's health,It is found that increased paternal education improves the health level of the offspring and contributes to children's mental health.Heterogeneity analyses showed that the positive effect of paternal education was greater on the health of male children, urban children and younger children. The analysis of action mechanism shows that the level of paternal education not only improves the health endowment of the offspring at birth, but also improves the ability of the family to access resources, being beneficial to the health level of the offspring. In order to improve children's health, governmental departments can continuously improve China's education policy and emphasize the positive role played by parents'education status in children's health.
