摘　　要：长篇小说《德伯家的苔丝》是英国文学史上著名的小说家、诗人、跨世纪文学巨匠托马斯·哈代的代表作。《德伯家的苔丝》塑造了美丽善良的淳朴农家女孩苔丝的生动艺术形象,控诉了扼杀人性的旧礼教,揭露了宗教的虚伪,讽刺了荒唐的法律,鞭挞了破坏幸福爱情的黑暗社会,展现了一幅19世纪英国乡村的现实主义生活画卷。文章从象征手法的成功运用、情与景的巧妙融合、地理空间的寓意变化及典故的艺术意蕴四个方面,分析了《德伯家的苔丝》高超的艺术成就,以期为研究哈代的现实主义创作风格提供一定的借鉴。Tess of the D’Urbervilles is the masterpiece of Thomas Hardy,a famous novelist,poet and cross-century literary master in the history of British literature.Tess of the D’Urbervilles creates a vivid artis-tic image of Tess,a beautiful,kind and simple peasant girl,accuses the old etiquette that stifles humanity,ex-poses the hypocrisy of religion,satirizes the absurd law,criticizes the dark society that destroys happiness and love,and presents a realistic picture of life in the British countryside in the 19th century.This paper ex-pounds the superb artistic achievements of Tess of the D’Urbervilles from four aspects:the successful use of symbolism,the ingenious integration of emotion and scenery,the change of implication of geographical space and the artistic implication of allusions,in order to provide some reference for the study of Hardy’s re-alistic creation style.
