小说《肖申克的救赎》叙述者功能分析

摘　　要：小说《肖申克的救赎》中,叙述者不仅发挥其讲故事的“本职”功能,以“安迪故事”和“瑞德故事”双线并进建构故事,呈现不屈不挠、洁身自好的安迪形象,体现瑞德心理意识的变化和个人灵魂更为艰巨、深沉的救赎。而且瑞德作为故事中的人物叙述者,以浓烈的主体意识发挥评论、交流功能,展示“拥护正义反对邪恶”的倾向和对过往的重新判断与对未知的合理推测,并且传递了个人的求实态度,表示独立思考和理性判断的重要性。通过结合叙事学理论以及文本细读,阐释《肖申克的救赎》中叙述者丰富的叙事功能。In the novel The Shawshank Redemption,the narrator not only plays his role as a storyteller,but also constructs the story through the combination of“Andy’s Story”and“Red’s Story”,presenting the indomitable and self righteous image of Andy,reflecting the changes in Red’s psychological consciousness and the more arduous and profound redemption of his personal soul.Moreover,as the narrator of the characters in the story,with a strong sense of subjectivity,he plays a role in commentary and communication,showcasing a tendency to support justice and oppose evil,as well as a re judgment of the past and reasonable speculation about the unknown.He also conveys a personal attitude of seeking truth,indicating the importance of independent thinking and ra-tional judgment.By combining narrative theory and careful reading of the text,this article elabo-rates on the rich narrative functions of the narrator in The Shawshank Redemption.
