摘　　要：智慧城市建设作为城市化发展模式的重大变革,其对就业水平的提升作用亟需来自宏观城市层面的经验证据。基于我国284个地级及以上城市面板数据,对智慧城市试点政策开展准自然实验,利用多期DID方法检验智慧城市建设对城市就业的影响及内在机制。研究发现智慧城市建设显著提升了城市就业水平,且通过一系列稳健性检验后结论仍然成立。机制分析表明,智慧城市建设运用现代信息技术推动城市发展模式创新,通过创新驱动产生消费与外资的拉动效应,进而提升城市就业水平。进一步分析发现,智慧城市建设对就业的促增效应在中部地区城市和人口密度较低、经济活动水平较高的普通城市中表现显著。研究结果为智慧城市建设在城市层面上的就业效应研究提供了经验证据。As a major change in the development model of urbanization,smart city construction's effect on employment level is in urgent need of empirical evidence from the macro-city level.Based on the panel data of 284 prefecture-level cities in China from 2010 to 2019,we conduct a"quasi-natural experiment"on smart city pilot policies,and test the impact of smart city construction on urban employment and its underlying mechanisms using the multi-period DID method.The study finds that smart city construction significantly improves the level of urban employment,and the conclusion still holds after a series of robustness tests.The mechanism analysis shows that smart city construction utilizes modern information technology to promote the innovation of urban development mode,and generates the pull effect of consumption and foreign investment through the innovation drive,which in turn enhances the level of urban employment.Further analysis reveals that the employment boosting effect of smart city construction is significant in cities in central China and ordinary cities with lower population density and higher economic activity level.The results of this study provide empirical evidence for the study of the"employment effect"of smart city construction at the city level.
