摘 要:王守义和诺弗尔的古诗英译曾在美国出版,并获得当地文化界的认可与支持,之后在国内多次再版重印。然而,在中国古诗英译史中,两者的翻译贡献并未得到应有的重视,其翻译理念和翻译实践,也未以相互参照的方式加以深入考辩。王守义将其翻译理念表述为“再现”。而基于译作呈现的实际状貌,考辩发现:用“再生”一词,而非“再现”,更能贴切表达他们的翻译理念,揭示其翻译活动的真实情况。译作相对于原作的再生,表现在诗意和诗形两个方面。作者型翻译是中国古诗实现再生的重要路径,它使原作在新的文化语境获得新面貌,葆有文学生命力,推动着中国诗歌通过异域新生,进入世界文学的畛域。The English translations of classical Chinese poetry by Wang Shouyi and John Knoepfle have ever been pub-lished in America,and have obtained approval and sponsorship from the local cultural circles,before being reprinted and republished for several times in China.While in the studies of the history of English translation of classical Chinese poetry,their contributions have not received due attention,and their translation ideas and practices have not been examined in depth in a cross-reference way.Wang summarizes their translation ideas into"reproduction";however,on the basis of the actual features of their translations,it is found that the word"rebirth"is more proper than"reproduction"in express-ing their translation ideas and revealing their translation activities.Compared with the original poems,the rebirth through translations is achieved in two aspects:poetic meaning and poetic form.Writerly translation is an important way to realize the rebirth of classical Chinese poetry.It gives the original literary piece a face-lifting in the new cultural context to keep its literary vitality,so as to promote the new birth of Chinese poetry in an alien land,and further to naturalise it as part of the world literature.
