摘  要:修辞格的认知功能、解构功能等当代研究令人瞩目,但与之密切相关而渊源更为深厚的论辩功能却尚未引起关注。本文依据大量原始经典对西方辞格论辩观进行系统溯源,从古希腊、古罗马、中世纪、文艺复兴、启蒙各大时期的修辞学要著中,考辨出隐喻、提喻、转喻等转义辞格与反复、对照、修辞问句等非转义辞格的诸多论辩功能:逻辑诉求、人格诉求、情感诉求、在场/凸显、丰裕等。本文着重揭示西方古典时期辞格论辩观中所蕴含的“饰”即“论”或“饰论一体”“饰论不二”的精辟思想。The cognitive,deconstructive and other functions of rhetorical figures have attracted attention in contemporary research;however,their closely related argumentative function with a more profound origin has not yet received attention.Based on a large number of original rhetorical classics,this article systematically traces the origins of Western argumentative roles of rhetorical figures from ancient Greece,ancient Rome,the Medieval,the Renaissance,down to the Enlightenment.It finds that major tropes(e.g.metaphor,synecdoche,metonymy)and schemes(e.g.repetition,antithesis,rhetorical question)have various argumentative functions:logos,ethos,pathos,presence,copia,etc.,and discloses that in Western classical rhetoric ornament/rhetorical figure and argument are inseparable as one rather than two.
