摘　　要：《嘉莉妹妹》是德莱塞最为著名的小说作品,他以渴望出人头地的乡村姑娘为焦点,描绘了美国消费主义的冷酷及残忍,剖析了欲望的本质及内涵。从嘉莉姑娘的逐梦过程,探究消费主义对美国道德体系的影响,分析消费主义与美国梦异化对嘉莉妹妹道德体系沦丧的影响,从而体悟德莱塞蕴含在小说中的深刻内涵。Sister Carrie is one of Theodore Dreiser′s most renowned novels.It focuses on a rural girl who dreams of rising to prominence,depicting the harsh and cruel reality of American consumerism and analyzing the nature and essence of desire.By examining Carrie′s journey in pursuit of her dreams,this paper explores the impact of consumerism on the American moral framework and analyzes how the alienation of the American Dream under consumerism contributes to the degradation of Carrie′s moral system.This study aims to understand the profound implications embedded in Dreiser's novel.
