Annie Ernaux, the French writer and Nobel Prize laureate in literature, introduced the concept of“Impersonal autobiography”(or social autobiography)by ingeniously integrating sociology and history. She dedicated herself to depicting real life, intertwining personal and collective memory to dismantle hierarchies and mirror the zeitgeist.Ernaux's autobiographical works exhibit transmediality. On one hand, she vividly portrays images(photographs)with precise language, capturing the tangible essence of reality and memory.Following Foucault's principle of“the order of things”,Ernaux subjects the world to the sovereignty of discourse and reproduces representations through words. On the other hand,a gap exists between the text and the image in Ernaux's works. For Ernaux, photographs serve as traces, while words must be“hallucinogenic”.Annie Ernaux leverages the temporal separation between words and images to craft a unique creative space that delves into the essence of the human psyche. The image mirrors reality, whereas the text conveys emotions. The metaphor of the mirror and the lamp is manifested through the dual function of text and image.By combining transmedia techniques,Annie Ernaux captures truths and reflects the individual's impact on society in the contemporary era.
