摘　　要：Whether it's the early international communication studies of the 1920s or the intercultural communication research marked by the publication of The Silent Language by American anthropologist Edward Hall in 1959,neither has escaped the characteristics of conflict,conquest,and the"other."International and cross-cultural communication seem,from their inception,not to have been about communication and reaching consensus,leading one to question whether equal communication,the elimination of prejudice and consensus-building are even possible through international or intercultural communication.
