摘　　要：当代美国小说家理查德·鲍尔斯在其《回声制造者》、《树语》和《迷惘》等多部小说中通过塑造残障人物和描写残障现象,来传达失能研究所提倡的新型残障观:残障是人类普遍的存在状态,是人类身心多样性的展现,生成于人类同外在的关系中。这种对残障的认知蕴含着鲜明的残障伦理思想,表达出深刻的残障智慧,对当代社会中人们正确处理自身与外在的关系具有丰富的启示。In novels such as The Echo Maker,The Overstory,and Bewilderment,contemporary American novelist Richard Powers conveys a new concept of disability as advocated by disability studies through his portrayals of disabled characters and his use of disability imagery.In his view,disability is a universal state of human existence and a manifestation of human physical and mental diversity generated in the relationship between humans and the outside world.This new understanding of disability contains a distinct disability ethics while conveying profound disability wisdom,which has rich sig-nificance for people in contemporary society looking to correctly handle the relationships between themselves and the world.
