David Mas Masumoto is one of the representatives of the agrarian narrative in contemporary American eco-literature.The eco-nostalgia he displays in the"Epitaph for a Peach"series is quite different from the negative and pathological im-pression of nostalgia that has long prevailed in the West.It is a reflective, critical, and future-oriented positive emotional force.Beginning with Masumoto's taste eco-nostalgia,this article analyzes how economic reason and oligopoly in agriculture,as well as the lack of consumer eco-consciousness and inappropriate choices in food consumption, have led to the loss of biological diversity, complexity, and symbiosis. Moreover, the article ex-amines how Masumoto employs eco-nostalgia to trigger an"embodied simulation"of the reader-consumer,thereby influencing their ecological cognition, and then transforms this powerful emotion into morality and a commitment to shaping a sustainable food system.
