Since the 20th century,Japanese colonization(1910-1945)and the Korean War(1950-1953)have caused disasters to the Korean nation, resulting in indel-ible trauma writing in Korean American poetry. From the perspective of trauma theory,"visual text"and"text visualization",this article explores how contemporary Korean American poets such as Theresa Hak-kyung Cha,Suji Kwock Kim and Myung Mi Kim represent ethnic and war traumas based on national memory. In order to resist the deliber-ate erasure of history by the mainstream American society, the poets present visually im-pactful image memory and war scenes and apply the technique of montage, reconstructing a continuous and authentic Korean American history. At the same time,by visualizing the theme of trauma, the poets expose the suffering brought by colonialization and war, connecting individuals, ethnicities, and a community with a shared future for humanity. This not only makes it possible to heal the emotional trauma of the Korean American community, but also rings the alarm for the world to resist hegemonism and power politics.
