摘　　要：许国璋先生既是杰出的语言学家,也是卓越的文评家。素以评弥尔顿、雪莱著称的许先生,晚年另辟蹊径,旗帜鲜明地赞爱默生论莎士比亚不落窠臼、赞鲁迅论拜伦敢于申诉他与他笔下的该隐“争天拒俗”的精神。本文作者作为许先生的研究生和编辑,回顾了先生富有文学情趣的语言学课和几易其稿才发表的爱默生评论和鲁迅评论。本文通过分析这些文学评论,展示了先生治学之缜密、见解之独到,反对“跟风”“浮躁风”之坚决。许先生的教诲让作者一生受益。Professor Xu Guozhang was not only an eminent linguist but also an outstanding literary critic.Known as a Milton-Shelley scholar,he broke new ground in Emerson and Lu Xun studies late in his life.As one of his assistants,the author reminisces Xu's linguistic classes with frequent reference to literature and his essays on Emerson and Lu Xun,admiring his rigorous scholarship,unique insights,and determined opposition to drifting with the tide and going for quick success.Xu's legacy has benefitted the author throughout his career.
