To study the impact of residual boundary coal pillars on the layout of lower coal seam tunnels after goaf extraction in the upper coal seam.In this paper, numerical simulation, theoretical analysis and field observation are used to study the stress distribution and support scheme of surrounding rock in lower coal seam roadway. The research results show that after the excavation of the lower coal seam roadway, under the vertical concentrated stress of the upper coal pillar, there are obvious stress concentration areas in the surrounding rock of the two sides, with a peak stress of about 2.4 times the original rock stress, and a large deformation of the surrounding rock; The anchor mesh cable combined support scheme is suitable for the surrounding rock of the lower coal seam roadway under the influence of coal pillars. The overall deformation of the surrounding rock is significantly reduced, and the support effect is good. The research results have good guiding significance for the design of support for close range coal seam mining.
