清末广学会体育教科书编辑出版活动探析--以《体育图说》为中心

摘　　要：广学会是1887年由来华英人韦廉臣(Alexander Williamson)于上海发起建立的出版机构,在清末时期出版了囊括政治、经济、天文、地理、历史等多个主题的教科书籍,该会也凭此融入彼时“西学东渐”的热潮之中。其间,广学会先后出版发行《幼学操身》《体育图说》《女学体操》三部体育教科书,不仅对中国近代体育教育启蒙和发展起到了接续推动作用,而且均具有滥觞发轫之意,价值巨大。以《体育图说》的编辑出版活动为研究中心,对于展现清末时期西方在华出版机构于教科书编辑出版方面日渐式微、中国近代体育教科书编辑出版事业蓬勃发展的历史状况,具有见微知著的重要意义。The Christian literature society for China(C.L.S.)was a publishing organization established in Shanghai in 1887 by Alexander Williamson,an Englishman who came to China.It published textbooks covering politics,economics,astronomy,geography,history and other topics in the late 24 years of the Qing Dynasty,and the association also integrated into the boom of“Western learning to the east”at that time.In the meantime,the C.L.S.has published three physical education textbooks Physical Education,Physical Culture and Physical Exercise for Girls,which not only played a continuing role in promoting the enlightenment and development of modern physical education in our country,but also had the intention of starting with great value.Taking the editing and publishing activities of the sports textbook Physical Culture of the C.L.S.in the late Qing Dynasty as the research center,it is of great significance to show the historical fact that the western publishing institutions in China were gradually declining in the editing and publishing of textbooks in the late Qing Dynasty,and the modern physical textbook editing and publishing business was booming in China.
