求真意志:谈《文心雕龙·史传》的传记思想

摘　　要：刘勰在《文心雕龙·史传》篇提出“实录无隐”“按实而书”的撰史要求,强调史传叙事的真实性原则。同时,受儒学正统尊经思想的影响,中国传统哲学家与文论批评家认为“真”与“善”同构,“求真”是以“求善”为内核的伦理道德行为。刘勰提出“依经树则”“尊贤隐讳”等撰史要求,在“求真”与“意志”之间构成了历史真实与伦理真实的矛盾冲突。这一矛盾既源于刘勰对历史传记“彰善瘅恶”作用的认识,也与魏晋南北朝的社会意识形态和权势阶层休戚相关。“求真”与“求善”的矛盾并非不可调和的二元对立,在两者的张力之间寻求合理的历史叙事空间,是我们立足当前理论语境的努力方向。In his masterpiece The Literary Mind and the Carving of Dragons·Historical Biography,Liu Xie posits the necessity of writing history"without concealment"and"according to the truth",underscoring the primacy of authenticity in the historical narratives.Additionally,influenced by the orthodox Confucian notion of reverence for the scriptures,traditional Chinese philosophers and literary critics espouse the view that"truth"and"goodness"are synonymous,and that"truth-seeking"is predicated on"goodness-seeking".The pursuit of truth can be considered an ethical and moral behavior,with the core of the pursuit of goodness.Liu Xie sets forth the stipulations for composing historical accounts,including the adherence to the tenets of scripture and the veneration of erudite individuals while maintaining discretion.These stipulations delineate the interrelationship between the pursuit of truth and the exercise of volition.The relationship between"truth-seeking"and"volition"gives rise to a conflict between historical truth and ethical truth.This contradiction has its roots in Liu's interpretation of the function of historical biographies in"manifesting good and condemning evil".It is also closely linked to the social ideology and the powerful class of the Wei,Jin,and North and South Dynasties.The contradiction between"truth-seeking"and"goodness-seeking"is not an irreconcilable dichotomy.It is our objective to identify a reasonable space for historical narrative between the tensions of the two,based on the current theoretical context.
