摘 要:20世纪初,许多在华出版的英文报纸对无锡城市的转型与发展进行了广泛报道。从最初聚焦于工厂数量和工业门类的增多,到持续关注纺织业的快速进步、基础设施的不断兴建,再到积极推荐当地交通便利的生态旅游,这些英文报纸为无锡塑造出蒸蒸日上的“工业之都”的城市形象。鉴于上述报纸的传媒经验,当前无锡城市的宣传工作可以主打“中国工业化先锋城市”的文化品牌,厚植人才安心创业的文化氛围,建立针对无锡工业发展研究的智库机构。At the beginning of the 20th century,many English-language newspapers published in China reported extensively on the transformation and development of the city of Wuxi.From their initial focus on the increase in the number of factories and industrial categories,to their continued attention to the rapid progress of the textile industry and the construction of infrastructure,to their positive recommendation of local eco-tourism with easy access to the city,these English-language newspapers have created an image of Wuxi as a thriving‘city of industry’.In view of the media experience of these newspapers,the current publicity work of Wuxi can focus on the cultural brand of‘China's Pioneer City of Industrialisation’,cultivate a cultural atmosphere in which talented people feel at ease to start their own businesses,and set up a think-tank for research on Wuxi's industrial development.
