摘　　要：本文摘自Michael Seadle教授即将出版的专著《信息科学:历史,哲学,应用》,囊括了Seadle教授在世界顶级信息学院联盟(iSchools)2024年会主旨报告的核心内容。旨在向读者介绍信息科学的起源及其如何随时间在不同文化中发展,并从创始人的视角出发,介绍了信息学院的诞生。这些内容一方面基于Seadle教授作为信息学院创始人之一的个人经历,另一方面则基于标准的史料资源。本文充分重视历史和国际化视角,覆盖了广博的知识范畴,探索了信息在不同文化中所扮演的角色,尤其是在欧洲与中华文化。事实表明,信息与人类历史同样古老,并且对于几乎所有人类行为来说都是不可或缺的。This article uses excerpts from Professor Michael Seadle's forthcoming book InformationScience:History,Philosophy,Applications.It recapitulates contents presented in Professor Seadle's keynote lectures during the 2024 iConference,the annual conference of the iSchools organisation.The purpose is to introduce readers to the origin of Information Science and how it developed over time in multiple cultures.The origin of the iSchools is also explained from the viewpoint of one of the founders.The content relies both on Professor Michael Seadle's experience as one of the founders of the iSchools,and on standard historical sources.It has a breadth coverage of knowledge and explores the role of information in multiple cultures with an emphasis on the Europe and China.The facts show that information is as old as humans and is integral to virtually everything that people do.The historical perspective and the international emphasis is missing from many works about information.
