The shortage of high-quality feed resources is seriously restrictings the development of our country’s animal husbandry industry.Fiber is the most widely distributed and abundant renewable resource in nature, which is difficult to be utilized due to its complex structure and the lack of corresponding degradation enzymes in many animals. However, some microorganisms can degrade fiber into oligosaccharides or use it themselves to produce beneficial biomass by secreting the appropriate fiber-degrading enzyme system. Therefore, the selec-tion and breeding of high-efficiency fiber degrading microorganisms is of great significance for the development of new feed resources and the utilization of fiber feed.In this paper, the screening, modification and applica-tion of fiber degrading microorganisms at home and abroad in recent years were reviewed, aiming at providing new ideas for the mining of high-quality microbial germplasm resources and the development of new feed re-sources in China.
