This paper analyzes the generation mechanism of readerslazy thinking under ChatGPT,analyzes the consequences of lazy thinking, and proposes intervention measures. It is found that with the use of ChatGPT in libraries, some new features of readerslazy thinking will appear, such as the preference of information acquisition and the neglect of information depth exploration, the over-reliance on technology and the weakening of independent learning ability, the bias of machine answers and the validation of information sources. The reason for lazy thinking is that the human-machine dialogue reduces the readers cognitive load and generates thinking inertia, and produces the information cocoon effect resulting in the readers thinking of the“confrontation”weakened, while the machines one-way obedience to people causes readersemotional satisfaction and their desire for knowledge to attenuate, which in turn causes the phenomenon of“lazy thinking”.This will cause multiple risks such as readers cognitive bias, group reasonable ignorance dilemma, weakening of public discussion, weakening of human thinking, etc.,which need to be avoided from the perspectives of critical thinking,self-efficacy control, and cognitive regulation in human-machine dialogues.
