摘　　要：在传播学引入中国的早期阶段,与“交通”、“沟通”及“传播”等术语一样,“传”及“传学”也是对译“communication”的重要话语概念。这一话语概念最早由余也鲁先生倡导,他试图将“传”提升到与中国人“衣食住行”同等重要的地位。“传”是中国古代汉语中传播概念的集中代表,它不仅有传递、传播等动词意义,其含义还涵盖了与传播有关的名物,如传说、书传、传记、驿站等。余也鲁先生倡导的“传”及“传学”研究旨在对接中国传统文化,将施拉姆开创的“communication”研究本土化,这一努力开创了传播学研究中国化的先河,也是早期中国传播学自主知识体系建构的宝贵探索。尽管在后续的话语竞争中,“传学”话语影响力逐渐减弱,但用“传学”来对译“communication”仍有其积极意义。它不仅彰显了传播研究的中国文化主体性,也对后续的华夏传播研究产生了积极影响。如今,在社会科学界倡导构建中国自主知识体系的语境下,重新梳理和审视早期传播学术史中的“传学”话语及其兴衰演变历程,能够深化我们对于中国传播学研究意义、路径与前景的认识。In the early stages of introducing communication studies to China,terms like"traffic,""communication,"and"dissemination"were pivotal in translating the concept of"communication."Similarly,"Chuan"and"Chuanxue"(the study of communication)played a crucial role in this process.These concepts were first promoted by Mr.Yu Yelu,who sought to elevate"Chuan"(communication)to a level of significance comparable to the Chinese people's essential needs of"clothing,food,housing,and transportation."In ancient Chinese,"Chuan"represents a broad concept of communication,encompassing not only the verbs for transmission and dissemination but also nouns related to communication,such as legends,books,biographies,and post offices.Mr.Yu Yelu's advocacy of"Chuan"and"Chuanxue"aimed to integrate traditional Chinese culture with the communication theories pioneered by Schramm,marking a groundbreaking effort in the indigenization of communication studies in China.This initiative represented one of the earliest attempts to construct an independent knowledge system in Chinese communication research.While the"Chuanxue"discourse gradually faded amid later scholarly competition,its use in translating"communication"holds enduring significance.It emphasizes the cultural autonomy of Chinese communication research and has had a lasting impact on the development of the field in China.In the current context of the social sciences'focus on building a uniquely Chinese knowledge system,revisiting the rise and fall of the"Chuanxue"discourse in the early history of communication studies offers a deeper understanding of the significance,pathways,and future prospects for communication research in China.
