摘　　要：Beijing:The CommercialPress,2023,ISBN:9787100221023.Almost half a century ago,American historian John L.Shover published a book on the transformation of American rural life.Entitled First Majority-Last Minority,the book argued that,from 1945 on,technological change completely subverted America's rural traditions,driving most farmers into cities,and turning the few who stayed on the land into mass-producing agribusinessmen.'Shover called this transformation“a great disjuncture,”which for him marked a more important watershed in American experience than Frederick Jackson Turner's more famous disappearance of the western frontier.?Shover pointed to the end of WWII as the point of great disjuncture.
