越剧英译的文学性、音乐性、表演性研究——以《双飞翼》为例

摘  要:为了探讨越剧英文译本在文学性、音乐性和表演性方面的表现,选取了上海越剧院的新编历史剧《双飞翼》(中英字幕)为研究对象。首先,使用描述法和对比分析法从诗歌和文化词翻译两个层面探讨了越剧译本语言的文学性。接着,借助ELAN软件对视频进行分层标注和统计,研究越剧英译的音乐性和表演性。研究发现:文学性方面,译本基本做到达意,但因字幕时空限制和观众“可读性”考虑,舍弃了部分文化韵味;音乐性方面,译本在押韵和节奏上都基本保留了上口性特征;表演性方面,大部分英译唱词与舞台动作表情相符,但也存在表达不充分的情况。希望能够为越剧的英译提供有益借鉴,助力中国戏曲文化“走出去”。This paper aims to explore the literariness,musicality,and performativity of the English versions of Yue Opera and chooses the new historical drama A Poet’s Lament(with Chinese and English subtitles)of Shanghai Yue Opera Theatre as the research object.The study begins with examining the literariness of the translated language from the aspects of poetry and culturally loaded words by using the method of description and comparative analysis.Subsequently,ELAN software is employed to stratify the video labeling and statistics,investigating the musicality and performativity of the English translations of Yue Opera.The findings are as follows:in terms of literariness,the translation is coherent,but certain cultural nuances are sacrificed due to subtitle limitations and considerations of audience readability.In terms of musicality,the translation retains the catchy features in rhyme and rhythm.In terms of performativity,most English-translated lyrics align with stage movements and facial expressions,but there are also insufficient ones.
