Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)is a major global health issue.COPD patients often have one or more extrapulmonary comorbidities, and these diseases share common pathogenesis and significantly influence each other’s clinical presentation and prognosis, but there is currently a lack of effective treatment options for COPD and its extrapulmonary comorbidities.Oxidative stress is a disturbances in the pro-/antioxidant balance, which is an independent risk factor for COPD and its extrapulmonary comorbidities, but the specific mechanisms involved are still unclear. This article reviews the mechanism of oxidative stress in COPD and its common complications, aiming to find new therapeutic targets.
