摘  要:Fleshy-fruited plants use their fruits for seed dispersal.The colors,textures,sugar content,aromas,and flavors of fleshy fruits irreversibly change as they ripen,which attracts seed dispersal vectors that forage and disperse seeds to distant locations.For this strategy of seed dispersal to succeed,when fruit is foraged,the seeds must be mature.Therefore,fruit ripening and seed maturation must be coordinated.Fruit development and ripening are regulated by various factors,including phytohormones,nitric oxide,post-transcriptional regulation,and epigenetics(Corpas et al.,2022;Adaskaveg and Blanco-Ulate,2023;Ji and Wang,2023;Perotti et al.,2023).However,the mechanisms that co-regulate fruit ripening and seed maturation haveremained unclear.
