The renovation of aging residential communities is a critical measure for improving both urban quality and residents well-being.It also serves as a tangible expression of collective action within the realm of micro-governance.Beyond the commonly discussed factors in existing research—such as institutional frameworks, technological advancements, and key stakeholders—emotional and interest-based factors are essential elements that should not be overlooked in the renovation of aging communities. This paper examines the case of elevator installation in Hemu New Village to explore how emotional integration and interest coordination contribute to the formation of substantial collective action in community renovation. The study reveals that establishing mechanisms for emotional engagement, aligning community public interests, and creating a balanced“emotion-interest”integration can effectively mitigate conflicts and disputes. These strategies foster a co-constructed,co-governed,and shared governance community, promote self-driven renewal, and enhance residents sense of achievement and happiness.
