摘　　要：从托克维尔的多数暴政理论入手,对奥康纳《帕特里奇的节日》中的群体身份和话语生态进行解读。南方小镇帕特里奇的多数群体借助消费主义和文雅传统两种主流话语,将杜鹃花节变为重要的社会空间,构筑同一性的群体身份,形塑了规训异己的话语生态。少数群体在愤怒和自恋人格下,试图对抗主流群体的无限权威;他们虽有传播话语的自由,但始终难以逾越多数群体修筑的高墙。这种斗争深刻反映了美式话语政治的现实。少数群体在对抗中解构了杜鹃花节的仪式,揭露了多数暴政理论下美式自由的虚无本质。From the perspective of Tocqueville’s theory of Tyranny of the Majority,this paper analyzes the group identity and discourse ecology in O’Connor’s The Partridge Festival.In Partridge,a small town in the south,the majority group turns the Azalea Festival into an important social space,thereby constructing a homogeneous group identity and fashioning a discourse ecology to discipline dissidents by means of the two mainstream discourses,namely commercialism and genteel tradition.With indignant and narcissistic characters,the minority group attempts to rebel against the omnipotence of the mainstream group.Although free to spread their discourse,they have always been unable to go beyond the formidable circle drawn by the majority group.This struggle profoundly reflects the reality of American discourse politics.In the confrontation,the minority group deconstructs the ceremony of the Azalea Festival,and exposes the nihilistic nature of freedom in America under the theory of Tyranny of the Majority.
