The construction of the main propulsion system of a ship is the main line of shipyard shipbuilding, which involves two important nodes of outfitting and sea trials. There are many unfavorable factors for construction progress, such as long construction cycle and many constrained resources. The conventional work plan preparation mode in shipyards is based on the contract milestones and progressive preparation, but when multiple projects are started at the same time, conflicts between human and material resources will lead to delayed plans, which can only be solved by extending working hours or increasing the allocation of key resources. The application of critical chain technology in shipyard planning and progress control is proposed, based on the problems ignored by traditional management methods, such as resource conflicts.By combining the construction process of the main propulsion system of a ship and the critical chain technology,a ship main propulsion system construction progress management model is constructed. The model is applied and compared in the construction of the main propulsion system of a certain type of ship in a shipyard, verifying the effectiveness of the critical chain technology in the construction of the main propulsion system project.
