Objective To analyze the status of SARS-CoV-2 re-infection and its influencing factors among residents in Hunan Province, and to provide data support for formulating the re-infection prevention and control policies. Methods In June 2023,an online questionnaire survey was conducted among urban and rural residents in Hunan Province based on the Precision Intelligent Control Platform for infectious diseases in Hunan Province.χ2 test and logistic regression were used to analyze the factors influencing the occurrence of re-infection.Results A total of 10,983 previously infected persons were included in this survey, and 2,603 of whom were re-infected,with the SARS-CoV-2 re-infection rate of 23.70%(95%CI:22.90%-24.50%).The re-infection rates of the urban and rural areas were 25.47%(95%CI:24.45%-26.50%)and 20.68%(95%CI:19.44%-21.93%)respectively.78.99%(2,056/2,603)of the re-infected persons felt that their symptoms were milder than those of the last infection. The results of multifactor logistic regression analysis displayed that living in the heavily populated area(OR=6.09,95%CI:5.08-7.29)and medical professionals(OR=1.88,95%CI:1.68-2.11)were more likely to be re-infected,and the groups aged 0-17 years(OR=0.31,95%CI:0.26-0.36)and 60 years and above(OR=0.64,95%CI:0.62-0.79)were less likely to had re-infection compared with the group aged 18-59 years. Conclusion Re-infection may occur in patients with previous SARS-CoV-2 infection, and the symptoms of most patients with re-infection are milder than those of patients with first infection.Urban residents, medical professionals and the young and middle-aged group are more likely to be re-infected,suggesting that re-infection prevention and control based on key populations should be done in the early stage of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.
