摘 要:本色化转型是广学会在20世纪20年代非基督教运动场景下的自救举措。在总干事季理斐(Donald MacGillivray,1862—1931)的带领下,广学会探索出数条本色化转型路径:加强福音宣传,将出版重心由普通知识回归宗教领域;招贤纳才,将领导权移至华人基督徒手中;支持中国教会自立,在1922年基督教全国大会上呼吁中西教会合作;顺应中国新文化运动文学革命的潮流,将出版物改由白话发行。可以说,季理斐是广学会实现本色化转型的关键人物。广学会努力融入中国本土社会,既是在中国民族意识觉醒之际主动适应文化处境的策略选择,也映射出知识与国家权力间的互动轨迹。Indigenization was a self-help initiative of the Christian Literature Society for China in the context of the non-Christian movements of the 1920s.Under the leadership of Donald Macgillivray,the Christian Literature Society for China explored several paths of indigenization:strengthening the spread of the gospel and shifting the focus of the publications of the Society from general knowledge to the religious field;recruiting talents and gradually moving the leadership of the Society to Chinese Christians to bring about“Chinese and Western Governance”;supporting the Chinese church’s self-reliance and calling for cooperation between Chinese and Western churches at the 1922 Christian National Assembly;changing the publications of the Society to the vernacular in line with the trend of the literary reform of China’s New Culture Movement.It can be said that Donald MacGillivray was the key person for the Christian Literature Society for China to achieve indigenization.The Society strove to integrate into China’s local society,which was not only a strategic choice to adapt to the cultural situation in China’s national consciousness but also a reflection of the interaction between knowledge and state power.
