扎根地方,感悟生命——温德尔·贝瑞的生命共同体思想探析

摘　　要：美国当代自然文学作家温德尔·贝瑞以关注地方、倡导农业文化闻名于世,其作品中透露出一种强烈的地方意识和对人与土地关系的深刻思考。贝瑞的地方意识是其生态世界观的独特表达,具有深刻的生命共同体蕴涵。其作品中的地方是一个包括人类和非人类在内的完整的共同体,因此,作为共同体一员的人类应以平等的态度关爱呵护这个共同体。贝瑞强烈批评西方传统的人类中心主义思想和过度发展的现代工业对生命共同体的破坏,并以激进的立场投身于环保活动。他还提出以家庭农场为基础的农耕文化来代替工业化时代的农业企业文化,表达了复兴美国田园理想的后田园主义愿景。Contemporary American nature writer Wendell Berry is renowned for his focus on place and advocacy of agrarian culture.His works reveal a strong sense of community and a deep contemplation of relationship between humans and the land.Berry’s place-based conciousness is a unique expression of his ecological worldview,with a profound connotation of the community of life.The concept of place presented in Berry’s works is a complete community rooted in the land,including human beings and non-human beings,suggesting that human,as members of the community,should care for the community in an equal manner.Berry strongly critiques the traditional anthropocentrism of the West and the deleterious effects of industrial overdevelopment of modern society on the community of life,and devotes himself to the environmental protection activities of contemporary American society with a radical stance.He also proposes a family farm-based agrarian culture to replace the agribusiness culture of the industrialized era,expressing a vision of post-pastoralism that revives the ideal of the American idyll.
